The NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) screen reader was created by NV Access to support blind Windows users. The screen reader can be freely downloaded from the NV Access website.
Users of NVDA have indicated that the screen reader is quite effective in providing navigation around the Windows operating system, web browsing when used with the Mozilla Firefox browser, and basic functionality of the Microsoft Office suite.
This screen reader has also been praised for its compliance with web standards, which means that it works well for browsing web pages which have been created with cutting-edge accessibility features based on HTML5 and ARIA.
The current version of NVDA supports Windows 7, 8.x and 10 and is updated regularly.
